Mass media cooperation and following-up is essential for the completion of PROTEGELES work. Thanks to this cooperation, information and recommendations on children’s security have reached a large part of the society. Furthermore, mass media following-up is raising awareness on the problem of child pornography. This contribution is priceless, as just a few years ago, child pornography was not even considered as an offence in Spanish law and most of Spanish citizens did not believe it could exist. Social and political awareness is enabling constant reforms on legislation, which is getting closer to that of other European countries, and definitely more accurate to the reality we are facing today.

Fortunately, at present, Spain counts on a modern and advanced legislation, an effective police forces and organizations such as PROTEGELES that are working every day in order to make out of Internet a safer tool for children. On top of this, Spanish Internet-related industry is pretty aware of the problem and mass media are backing all initiatives on this matter.
